about

I can't remember the first time I heard "Black is the Color" (of my true love's hair,) perhaps as a teenager. But, back in 2019, I was listening to Joan Baez' first ever album, 'Folksingers 'Round Harvard Square' and thought it would be a wonderful addition to my tribute to her.

lyrics

Black, black, black is the color of my true love's hair
His lips are something so wondrous fair
The purest eyes
And the bravest hands
I love the ground on where he stands
I love the ground on where he stands

I love my love
And well he knows
I love the ground whereon he goes
And if my love no more I see
My life shall quickly fade away

Black, black, black is the color of my true love's hair
